Valley

Zillertal

Zillertal is a 40 km long valley named after the river Ziller. The valley is located about 1 hour by car from the Tyrolean capital, Innsbruck. It is surrounded by heavily glaciated alpine massifs: the Zillertaler Alepen, the Tuxer Alpen, and the Kützbühler Alpen.

Thanks to its location and beautiful unspoilt nature, the Zillertal has become one of the most visited valleys in Tyrol, offering an endless variety of activities. Its great advantage is not only the possibility of year-round skiing but also the ever-expanding summer tourism. It offers not only countless beautiful hiking trails in unspoiled nature but also expanding water areas for swimming and children attractions at almost every peak.

Summer festivals

Zillertal is very alive in the summer. One of the traditions of the locals is to hold a so-called "Fest". Small festivals, celebrations, and performances take place in almost every town and village during the summer. Here you can buy locally sourced products, listen to traditional music, or treat yourself with some delicious "Zillertaler Krapfen".

Alm Abtrieb

One of the most popular events for the locals and tourists is the so-called "Alm Abtrieb" at the end of the summer season. It is a time of bringing the cows back home from the mountain plains and it must be celebrated! Imagine: Live music and food stalls with local produce and delicacies at every corner. Beautifully decorated cows are coming back home from the mountains in a parade, this all supplemented by a rumbling sound of bells, everyone is having fun...isn´t it beautiful?
